Grandmothers were sewing, granddaughters were wearing
PETRINJA – The Youth Association “New World” organised a fashion show called “Petrinja’s summer” at the city bathing-place, at which 20 unique models for spring and summer were shown along with selection of the best singer of the town of Petrinja.
These fashion designs and models were created at the course of tailoring and sewing in the village community building in the village of Luščani during the first workshop organised by the association “New World”. This workshop was organised for unemployed women from the area of Petrinja, Banovina. Having judged from the models shown at the fashion show, these women have learnt how to sew.
– I am very pleased with this first public presentation of our workshop. These models were worn by daughters and granddaughters of our workshop’s attendants and designers of these models– says Mrs. Svjetlana Grubješić, President of the Association.
Milena Bakrač proudly showed the work of the grandmother Ljuba, while Tamara Mamić showed the work of the grandmother Vera. The youngest model, a five-year old Jelena Radmanović wore the model designed by her mother Mira, while Đurđica Jekić presented a model designed by her mother Ljiljana. Bojana, a daughter of S. Grubješić, president, prided herself with her mother’s design. Danijela Kovačić from Sisak, a creator and designer, who is also a leader of this workshop, offered her fashion designs. – I wore a model designed by Snježana Obradović, which was rated as a hit of this fashion show – praised Sanela Vidak. Maja Terzić presented the best child’s model designed by Milena Bakrač.
– We have received the fabric from the Tourist Agency Petrinja, humanitarian organisation St. Kvirin from Sisak and a company Ortomaks from Zagreb. The sewing machines were bought with support of ASB and the Open Society – emphasises S. Grubješić. Otherwise, the second workshop is in preparation.
